1-D linear interpolation
For a tabulated property y(x), the two neighbouring nodes are used. If the point falls on a node, the value is returned without further rounding.

Theory, equations and conditions of use
Tables discretise thermodynamic surfaces. The engine identifies the nodes surrounding the requested point and evaluates the property in the same unit base.

In superheated regions, four pressure–temperature nodes are used: interpolation runs in one direction first and then in the other.

For saturated mixtures, each specific extensive property is obtained from the quality x. Outside the dome, the state is identified as compressed liquid or superheated vapour.

What happens outside the tabulated range?+
The system clamps the query to the outermost node and shows a warning; it never extrapolates silently.
Are the imperial units a separate database?+
They are computed from the SI base using exact factors, which avoids divergence from rounding.
Can it replace a property package?+
It is useful for preliminary engineering and teaching. For contractual or safety-related design, results must be verified against the code and the project's approved property package.
